University Projects

Autonomous Car Racing using Reinforcement Learning and Genetic Algorithm

Master's / Vilnius University (In Progress)

Implementation of NEAT (NeuroEvolution of Augmenting Topologies) and DDPG (Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient) for autonomously driving a car in TORCS (The Open Racing Car Simulator). Combination of NEAT with DDPG to create an algorithm that leverages advantages of both of these approaches by employing NEAT to evolve the architectures of neural networks used within DDPG. Comparison of these algorithms in terms of their performance and learning efficiencies.

Optimisation of EGR systems for diesel vehicle applications (Ford)

Master's / University of Bath

Used a Ricardo WAVE model to examine the potential benefits of EGR systems in diesel passenger vehicles. Developed control strategies for low pressure, high pressure and hybrid EGR system models and tested them by running simulations of the ECE-15 drive cycle. Compared steady-state and transient performances of the EGR systems in terms of their NOx, CO and soot emissions, brake power and fuel consumption.

High-Capacity Scissor Lift (ALE Heavylift)

Bachelor's / University of Bath

Worked in a team to design a high capacity scissor lift to significantly reduce the time and cost of bridge replacement operations. Was responsible for the design of the lifting mechanism. Completed calculations to choose suitable actuators, designed custom mounting brackets in a CAD environment and carried out FEA analysis on all custom parts to ensure their reliability under the expected loads.
